End of an era! Costa Coffee bids farewell to its original Malta store after 14 years
This Costa Coffee outlet has been open since 2012!

Costa Coffee Malta has announced the closure of its very first local outlet, marking the end of an era for a store that has been serving customers since 2012. While the news is tinged with a sense of nostalgia, the brand has reassured coffee lovers that this is far from a goodbye.

The closure forms part of the ongoing airport redevelopment project, with Costa Coffee simply relocating to a brand-new space within the terminal. The current store will close its doors today at 6pm to allow the team to prepare for the move.

Coffee lovers won’t have to wait long, however. The new Costa Coffee outlet will officially open tomorrow at 4am, ensuring early travellers can still get their caffeine fix. The refreshed store will be located in the Check-in Hall, right next to the Aviaserve stall.

Who’s getting their last coffee in the 2012 Costa Coffee outlet today?

21st January 2026
