Electrifying spectacle! Last night’s storm in Malta packed enough power to light 850,000 homes for 1000 days
Images flooded social media from across the island, capturing the raw power of the lightning

Unless you were away from the island or in a room that lacked windows last night, you probably noticed the skies light up with almost consistent thunderbolts for a good part of the night.

Indeed, the weather page It-Temp Madwarna shared that well over 1000 lightning bolts were spotted over the islands – enough to power 850,000 houses for 1000 days!

Maltese Islands Weather later confirmed that in two hours last night, more than 3,000 lightning strikes were recorded in 100 kilometers around the Dingli radar.

In case you missed one of the island’s most electrifying nights, here are some images from last night that capture nature's raw power.
