A new opportunity to immerse yourself in Malta's rich history and unwind in the lap of nature has arrived. As of today, the green space above St Paul's Catacombs in Rabat is open to the public in the evenings, extending beyond the catacombs' regular closing hours. Until March 2024, locals and tourists alike can access this serene haven from 6 pm to 8 pm daily, and the best part—it's free!

St Paul

Covering over 4,500 square meters, this enchanting area is thoughtfully designed with amenities like restrooms, seating, and the presence of a vigilant security guard, ensuring a safe and comfortable visit. Unlike the catacombs which have formalised pathways, visitors are encouraged to wander freely across designated grassy zones.

St Paul's Catacombs, a historical treasure trove, serves as a resting place dating back to Punic, Roman, and Byzantine times. These catacombs offer invaluable insights into the early history of Christianity in Malta, featuring over 30 hypogea and a complex network of passages and tombs, spanning more than 2,000 square meters.

St Paul

The green space is set to enhance the overall catacomb experience, providing a peaceful escape from the daily hustle and bustle. This initiative not only enriches the community's connection with their heritage but also echoes the success of the community garden above the Abbatija tad-Dejr Catacombs in Rabat.

So, plan your evening visit now and experience the magic of St Paul's Catacombs like never before!
