Gozo
Did you know that this village in Gozo is still yet to celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Saint Mary?
While most Saint Mary parishes, celebrate the feast on the day, this one celebrates the Sunday after.

On the 15th August of every year, many villages across Malta and Gozo celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Saint Mary but this one village in Gozo celebrates the feast with a bit of twist.

Instead of celebrating the feast on the 15th August, the village of Zebbug in Gozo celebrates the feast of the Assumption of Saint Mary the following Sunday of every single year.

This year, the Zebbug feast will fall on the 20th August. So, if you’re not quite ready to say goodbye to feast just yet, head up to Gozo and continue enjoying all the grandeur that Malta’s Santa Marija feasts have to offer.

On 20th August, you can go and enjoy the traditional morning marc that starts after 11:30am. This will be followed by the traditional procession of the titular statue around the village.

A Maltese feast would not be complete without some fireworks! The feast will be organising a fireworks spectacle on the eve of the day of the feast with the show starting at 12am.

The full programme of events can be accessed here.
