Check it out! Image shows how the Maltese Islands were joined with Sicily over 20,000 years ago
Malta was likely not even inhabited during these times.
An image reposted by the local page ‘Temp Madwarna’ from ‘Beautiful Italy’ shows how incredibly different the Maltese islands were over 20,000 years ago.
The Maltese islands were not islands at all and were instead joined with Sicily which in turn was also joined with main land Italy through a natural bridge.
Malta was not even inhabited during these times as the earliest evidence of people living in Malta is from around 7,400 years ago which was found in Ghar Dalam.
Although Malta eventually broke off from Sicily, it was still very much connected. Up until the year 1530, Malta was ruled by whoever ruled Sicily including the Normans and the Aragonese. That is until Malta was given to the Sovereign Military Order of the Knight of St. John.
