Following the success of last year’s temporary exhibition, Behind Closed Doors: Fort St Angelo and the Royal Navy 1906-1979 at Fort St Angelo, Heritage Malta is taking the current situation in stride and presenting the exhibition in full, this time in virtual format.
From its website, users can take the full tour of the entire Behind Closed Doors exhibition and explore any particular section within it. The exhibition was held in 2019 to commemorate 40 years since Freedom Day.

“41 years ago, our nation gained its freedom, but we also regained access to a Fort that had always been the coloniser’s domain,” says Noel Zammit, Heritage Malta’s CEO. “Digitising this exhibition means we still get to experience this unique site, despite the present circumstances.”
The virtual exhibition provides a detailed insight on the roles shouldered by Fort St Angelo during British occupation. But the core of it focuses on personal recollections of former Maltese and British servicemen who worked at the Fort during this period, including filmed interviews, photos and other memorabilia
The exhibition unfolds over five different areas inside Fort St Angelo, each represented with a dot on the map below, accessed from this link
