Every summer brings an increase in travelling due to the summer holidays of schools and some businesses, but this year June was busier than ever with an increase of 13.9% in traffic through Malta International Airport, when compared the same month in 2023, with a hefty total of 858,738 passenger movements.

The end of the month was predictably the busiest, with the 27th of June seeing 33,269 passengers travelling to or from Malta on a whopping 207 flights!

The Italian market continued to be the leading driver of passenger traffic for June, as was the case in May, contributing to just over 23% market share of all travel that month. The other most popular countries with passenger movement to and from the local airport were the United Kingdom (21%), Germany (8.1%), France (7.7%) and Poland (5.2%), with Poland being the fastest-growing market among the top five.

According to the airport statistics, the departures terminal was busiest in the late morning and early afternoon, with Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday being the most popular days to travel.
