Bravi! Maltese eNGO Zibel rid Mellieha’s Paradise Bay of almost 1 tonne of waste
Paradise Bay is known for plastic accumulation due to its geographic location and features

Volunteers belonging to the eNGO Zibel came together last Saturday to clean up Paradise Bay in the organisation’s second clean-up of the month, with the inspirational mission to restore the natural beauty of the Maltese Islands and their beaches.

The clean-up, consisting of diving, snorkelling and coastal land volunteers, was a massive success, with a total of 919kg of waste collected from various areas around the bay and its seas.

Paradise Bay is known to accumulate plastic due to its geographic location and features, with Zibel first tackling it as a clean-up site back in 2020. One of the main highlights of that event was a car being hauled up from the seabed, with the help of Zibel's talented divers.

The event was organised in collaboration with Esplora’s Island Guardian's project, funded by the Remedies Consortium in the framework of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.

Thank you to all the volunteers who participated!
