Local weather page ‘Maltese Islands Weather’ have issued a Gale Force wind warning due to the strong winds that are being predicted over the coming weekend.

The warning is set to last between Saturday, 6th January and Sunday, 7th January.

“A cold front associated with an intense low pressure system over the Tyrrhenian Sea will be sweeping the central Mediterranean during the weekend”, Maltese Islands Weather explained.

As a result of this, gale force winds from the West Southwest to West are expected that reach up to force 8 to 9 at times.

As expected, the sea is set to be quite rough and dangerous alongside the majority of the Maltese coast with waves forecasted to reach the height of up to 7.5metres.

The wind force will slightly calm down to force 6 to 7 by Sunday afternoon. However, it will not calm down completely until Tuesday 9th January.

5th January 2024
