Boost for local film industry! Malta’s Screen Support scheme gets major funding increase

Exciting news for Malta’s film and screen industry! The Screen Support Scheme has just been launched, bringing a substantial boost to local productions. This initiative, managed by the Arts Council Malta, will increase the scheme’s funding to €2 million.

The scheme is designed to support different phases of film production, with funding available across five key areas:

Strand 1: Scriptwriting – Support for developing original scripts.
Strand 2: Development – Funding for early-stage project development.
Strand 3: Short Film Production – Financial help for short films.
Strand 4: Feature Film Production – Resources for full-length films.
Strand 5: Cultural Programming – Support for cultural initiatives.

Filmmakers and creatives interested in applying can find detailed guidelines and application forms at www.artscouncil.mt. Applications will be assessed based on originality, vision, and impact on both local and international audiences. The deadline is 15th April 2025 – if you’re interested, get started ASAP!

This is a golden opportunity for Malta’s film industry to shine, so if you’ve got a story to tell, now’s the time to bring it to life!
