A colourful experience!

There’s nothing like a throwback photo that is bound to treat our morning blues! Captured in the 1980s, the image shared on social media this morning shows Mellieħa Parish Square decked out in its festive best, ready to celebrate the village’s beloved feast.

The picture transports us to an era when preparation for the feast was a true community affair. Streets were adorned with colourful banners, lights, and traditional decorations, while residents eagerly awaited the procession, fireworks, and celebrations that mark one of Malta’s most cherished traditions.

Though decades have passed, the spirit of the Mellieħa feast remains just as vibrant today. The photo is both a reminder of the parish square’s festive past, but also of the enduring pride and joy that feast week continues to bring to locals and visitors alike.

Which is your favourite summer feast in Malta?
