Be safe! Rehabilitated turtles Jaxon, Carla and Forty Three released back into Ramla Bay sea
The hard work by the wildlife care team has paid off!

Francesca Vella

It was a wholesome moment when three turtles that were being cared for at the Xrobb l-Ghagin Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, namely Jaxon, Carla and Forty Three, were released back into the sea at Gozo’s Ramla Bay.

Jaxon was saved off the coast of Gozo two months ago, spotted by a couple on a jet ski to be flipping onto his back and not diving properly. On closer inspection by the vet, he was found to be underweight and malnourished, so for the past two months he’s been nursed back to health at Xrobb l-Ghagin.

There was true joy in the air when Jaxon joined his fellow healthy turtles, Carla and Forty Three, as they were let onto the sand to make their way back into the sea, with cheers from the surrounding beachgoers.

Anyone who spots an animal in danger is encouraged to call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505 – working together, attentive nature-conscious beachgoers and those caring for wildlife can create more beautiful moments like this!

Best of luck out there Jaxon, Carla and Forty Three!
