The Statue of the Risen Christ, which bears a striking resemblance to Brazil’s iconic statue in Rio De Janeiro can be seen from most localities in Gozo. The statue is located on tal-Merzuq Hill also known as Tas-Salvatur Hill.
The statue was erected following two Maltese myths, one of which stating that Gozitans were punished with three days of darkness following by a ray of light coming from the hill itself.
The statue is a great excuse for anyone to hike up the hill and see the breath-taking views from the top as well as some pictures of the concrete statue.
