It seems like this heat does not want to leave the Maltese Islands! In fact, according to Facebook page, Maltese Islands Weather, yesterday Wednesday 18th of October, Malta found itself sweltering under a scorching sun, as the temperature at the Meteorological Office at Malta soared to a sweltering 31.7°C.

This temperature was nearly 7°C above the seasonal norm, making Malta the hottest country in all of Europe.

Malta is now possibly bracing for the possibility of a prolonged heatwave, with similar temperatures expected for today, the 19th of October and tomorrow, the 20th of October.

To officially classify as a heatwave, the mercury must consistently rise 5°C or more above the average for that time of year for a minimum of three consecutive days. For October, the average temperature stands at 24.8°C, and if the forecast holds true, Malta could indeed be in the midst of an exceptional heatwave.

The unprecedented heatwave is not only a departure from the typically mild October weather but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by climate change.

What do you think of this unusual October weather?
