More than 192,000 foreign tourists visited Gozo in 2025, confirming the island’s growing reputation as a year-round destination.

According to statistics published by the National Statistics Office, a total of 192,021 foreign visitors spent at least one night in Gozo during 2025 - an increase of 7% compared to 2024.

These results, describing are encouraging and sustainable and the figures reflect consistent growth across all seasons, reinforcing the government’s strategy to promote Gozo as a destination that attracts visitors beyond the traditional summer peak.

While summer remains the busiest period, tourism growth in Gozo during 2025 was notably well distributed throughout the year.

Summer accounted for 37% of total foreign visitors while spring attracted 27%. Autumn saw 26% while the winter season hosted 10%.

October registered the highest number of foreign visitors overall, while December recorded the strongest rate of increase. Compared to 2024, every season experienced growth:

  • Autumn: +22%
  • Winter: +11%
  • Spring: +2%
  • Summer: +1%

The strong performance in autumn and winter highlights Gozo’s successful transition toward a more balanced tourism model, reducing seasonal dependency and spreading economic benefits more evenly across the year.

Collective accommodation statistics, covering both foreign and domestic tourism, showed a 22% increase compared to the previous year, with every month registering relative growth.

The improved connectivity between Malta and Gozo has played a key role in supporting this upward trend. During 2025, more than 46,000 ferry crossings were recorded between the islands - 1,700 more than in 2024m averaging 126 crossings per day.

In recent weeks, plans were announced for two new vessels set to begin operations in 2029, representing an investment of approximately €130 million. Additionally, a dedicated task force has been established to analyse and scrutinise the infrastructural capacity of Mgarr Harbour, ensuring that growth remains sustainable and well managed.
