In this photo shared by Ino Mario Borg onto the Facebook group ‘Malta buses’, one can observe a different kind of scenery than the one we’re used to nowadays.
The photo was taken in St Francis Square, Victoria Gozo, during the year 1989.
You can observe one of the old Gozo buses passing right through the square, completely full and carrying many people who were probably going back to their home village after carrying out all the necessary errands,
Some in the comments speculated that it was bus 143, owned by a man locally known as ‘Salvu ta’ Xuxi’.
There also many cars parked around the square, many of which are models you no longer see in the streets today.
Even the infrastructure and the way the square is designed has changed significantly since then.
Nonetheless, some things will always remain the same. The church of St Francis dates back to 1663 and still stands there till this very day.
35 years later, even the trees, together with the buildings have more or less remained the same.
