A new lease on life! Four hedgehogs released back into wild after being rescued in Gozo
The hedgehogs were lucky enough to get a new chance at life.

Nature Trust Gozo took to social media to share some of their recent success stories from all the animals they have saved.

These included four hedgehogs who were just released back into the wild where they belong after making a full recovery.

Three of the hedgehogs, Shanti, Martha and Jojo were taken to Nature Trust for care after they were rescued as young hoglets when their mother could not be found. This means they needed a bit of care until they could grow and be independent in the wild.

On the other hand, Joseph was rescued after he was bitten by a dog. Thankfully, his injuries were not severe, and he pulled through, making a full recovery.

Nature Trust went on to appeal to the public that if you come across a hedgehog during the day, it means they’re injured as the animal only comes out at night since it is nocturnal. When this happens, one should call them on 99999505.

Hedgehogs are a protected species in Malta and it is strictly illegal to keep them as pets.
