A fourth ferry is in town to aid travel between Malta & Gozo for the summer months
The new ship will be part of the fleet in the coming weeks.
Gozo Channel is expected to start operating with four vessels in the coming weeks, as the company has concluded a deal to lease an old ro-ro vessel to join its three current ships crossing between Malta and Gozo.
Gozo Channel sources confirmed that the ship is expected to leave a Greek port in the coming days to join the company’s fleet “at least for this summer.” The ship, together with its on-board crew, has been leased and will not necessitate any additional staff on the part of Gozo Channel.
As per usual, locals took to Facebook to discuss the matter (and their opinions) when the news broke. Many are congratulating the ferry service for this addition, saying that this will aid the link between Malta and Gozo, but still allowing the sister isle to be the island we know and love.
And obviously, people didn’t hesitate to comment on the proposed Gozo tunnel. “This is what we need, not a tunnel,” said one Facebook user. Another user said however that “the tunnel will happen, it’s inevitable.” Some questioned why an ‘old ro-ro ship’ was being added and not a faster ship, but said it would help out just the same.
What do you think of the new addition to the fleet?
