A feast of colour & culture! New mosaic exhibition opens at Il-Ħaġar Museum in Gozo
Witness scenes of Gozo created by little pieces of ceramics.
Next month, Il-Ħaġar Museum in Victoria, Gozo, will be hosting a new temporary exhibition, ‘MUŻAjk’, showcasing 45 stunning mosaics by the Gozitan artist Mary Portelli.

Many of the works reimagine Gozo’s most recognisable landmarks – from the Gran Castello and Comino Tower to St Anthony’s Battery, Kenuna Tower, the Gordan Lighthouse, Sopu Tower, and even Nadur’s Carnival Monument. Each mosaic is crafted primarily from hand-cut ceramic tiles, brought to life with an imaginative mix of materials including broken crockery, local stone, smalti, shells, and even mug handles!
Curated by Marika Azzopardi, MUŻAjk opens on Saturday 13th September at 7:30pm, with all invited to the launch. The exhibition will run until 16th November and is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Entry, as always at Il-Ħaġar Museum, is free of charge.
