A colourful touch! Mellieha street gets creative upgrade with pencil-shaped traffic bollards
The coloured pencils pay tribute to the nearby school

Francesca Vella

Edward Camilleri Street, located alongside Mellieħa Primary School, has received a charming upgrade with the installation of new bollards designed to improve traffic safety in the area. However these bollards have a twist never seen before in Malta, taking the shape of coloured pencils, giving the street a new, colourful look – undoubtedly appreciated by the schoolchildren and adults alike!

Given that the street is a busy one, with attendees of the school and nearby sports facilities passing through on a daily basis, it had been identified that new safety measures needed to be put in place, and Mellieha residents, the Local Council and Transport Malta collaborated to come up with this fun, creative design to solve the issue.

Have you spotted the colourful new additions in Mellieha?
