Putting Malta on the map!

Maltese Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete Michelle Bonnici has triumphed at the European IBJJF tournament and became the champion of her category.

“Michelle brilliantly adopted a new sweep to pass approach without having ONE SINGLE POINT scored on her”, Avant Garde, the academy that trained Michelle explained on their social media.

It was definitely not an easy road for Michelle, but she nonetheless came out right on top.

She competed in the Light Feather brown belt (53.50Kg) category where she beat athletes from all across the world including Vianey Garcia (2nd place), Anais Hélène Knoploch and Fernanda de Melo Oliveira (joint 3rd place).

Ignas Masiokas, who also competed under the coaching of the Maltese academy Avant Garde placed 3rd in the Medium Heavy white belt category.

Well done to all the athletes and coaches!
