Steve's journey took him from Italy to the Arctic Circle.
Żebbuġ mayor and cyclist Steve Zammit Lupi has officially earned the title of NorthCape 4000 VIII Finisher, after cycling an astonishing 4,000 kilometres across eight countries in just 18 days and 17 hours.
The NorthCape 4000 is a self-supported, ultra-distance cycling adventure and one of the most participated-in bikepacking events in the world. Riders start in Italy, travel across the continent, and finish at the Arctic Circle’s globe monument in Nordkapp, Norway, passing through four mandatory checkpoints along the way. Competitors must manage every aspect of the journey themselves, from navigation and repairs to food and rest, with no external assistance.
In a social media post documenting the gruelling ride, Steve wrote: ‘An incredible journey starting in Italy comes to an end in the Arctic Circle at the iconic globe in Nordkapp, Norway. I arrived soaking wet after a final day cycling in rain and fog. It was hard but every pedal was worth it. Knowing Michela was waiting for me at the finish line made it even more special. Create dreams and chase them. Challenge your comfort zone and explore the beautiful world around us. An experience I will cherish all my life.’
While, we congratulate Steve on this incredible achievement, let his determination inspire you to break out of your own comfort zone - it's never too late!
Well done Steve!
