309kg of waste removed! Commonwealth consulates, Nature Trust & Coast is Clear unite for Marsaxlokk cleanup
Teamwork makes the dream work!

Francesca Vella

In honour of Commonwealth Day, celebrated today, this weekend saw a powerful collaboration dedicated to preserving Malta’s coastline.

The British, Australian, Indian, and Ghanaian High Commissions, the Honorary Consul of New Zealand, Nature Trust and Coast is Clear all joined forces in a beach cleanup at the Ballut ta’ Marsaxlokk Nature Reserve, successfully collecting 309kg of plastic waste from the beach and surrounding areas. Together, they worked to clear this protected area along Malta’s southern coast, contributing to the global fight against coastal pollution.

Reflecting on the event, the British High Commission took to social media to highlight the importance of such efforts, stating that 'Tackling coastal pollution, especially in Commonwealth small island states like Malta, is an essential step to protect our planet.'

This collective action serves as a reminder of the positive impact that collaboration and community efforts can have on preserving the environment for future generations.

Well done to everyone involved!
