10 shots of this weekend's feasts that show the Maltese really know how to throw a party!
Summer is all about festa season! Last weekend, Kalkara, Msida, Victoria in Gozo, Tarxien, Zurrieq and Qormi celebrated their local feasts, and they were an absolute blast! Here are 10 of the best shots from all six, that show we really know how to have good time!
1. Gigifogu in Tarxien
Gigifogu is an integral part of each feast, but this display in Tarxien took people’s breath away.
2. Morning march in Victoria, Gozo
A traditional activity is the morning march, or il-marc ta’ filghodu as we say. And the Gozitans know how to do it right!
3. Viva San Bastjan!
‘Viva San Bastjan’ was a phrase that rang through the streets of Qormi this weekend, which was covered in green from head to proverbial toe.

Zurrieq was all decked out to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel!

An important part of every Maltese feast is displaying the locality’s patron saint's titular statue, and paying homage to the figure.

Msida’s church knows how to rock the festa decorations and was covered from top to bottom in its festive best.

The Bastjanizi, as they call themselves, put on a spectacular fireworks show in the name of their patron saint.

Kalkara’s cupola came to life for the festivities and was decorated with bright lights for all the locality to gaze at.

It was an explosion of red in the streets of Victoria this weekend, where locals celebrated the feast of St George Martyr.

Tarxien pulled out all the stops with fabulous street decorations and banners that truly liven up the locality.
