‘When the Light Rests in Siġġiewi’: Yuxiang Tang’s new solo exhibition opens this Friday
See Siġġiewi through the eyes of Chinese artist who moved to Malta over a year ago.
There’s something about Siġġiewi at golden hour – the way the light softens its limestone façades, stretches across open land, and settles quietly into its narrow streets.
This weekend, that very magic takes centre stage in When The Light Rests In Siġġiewi, a solo painting exhibition by artist Yuxiang Tang, opening on Friday 6th March at 6:30pm at the ground floor of Marilu’s restaurant.
Originally from China, Yuxiang Tang is a professional artist whose work spans oil painting, sculpture and watercolour – and recently made headlines for his artistic challenge to paint 100 cacti in Malta.
Around a year and a half ago, he relocated to Malta with his family, choosing Siġġiewi as their new home. Since then, the village’s architecture, landscapes and close-knit community have become a deep source of inspiration.
The exhibition brings together a collection of landscape paintings created over the past six months, all centred around Siġġiewi and its surroundings. On opening night, Yuxiang Tang will be present to share insights into his creative journey, discuss the stories behind the works, and connect with visitors.
