Well done! Maltese athletes shine at London Indoor Games setting new national records
A total of 31 athletes represented Malta in London.

Maltese athletes from Rush Athletics Club delivered stellar performances at the London Indoor Games held at Lee Valley, setting new national category records and achieving outstanding results in a highly competitive field.

A total of 31 athletes, split into two delegations, represented Malta in one of the early highlights of the indoor athletics season.

Athletics Malta

The first group, consisting of 16 older youth athletes, excelled across multiple events. Thea Parnis Coleiro stole the show with a remarkable second-place finish in the 200m, clocking 24.91s and breaking the Under 18 and Under 20 records. The 16-year-old also impressed in the 60m, finishing in 7.77s.

Isaac Bonnici added to the club’s accolades by setting Under 20 and Under 23 records in the 800m with a time of 1:56.55. He also delivered a solid 400m performance, finishing in 51.80s.

Athletics Malta

In hurdles, Kayleigh Anne Ellul established new Under 16 and Under 18 records in the 60m hurdles, competing at senior height. Meanwhile, Luca Gerada impressed in the 60m sprint, clocking 7.18s.

The second delegation, featuring 15 younger athletes, also excelled. Rising star Leah Frendo broke three Under 14 indoor records, including 27.83s in the 200m and 8.32s in the 60m sprint. Andre Gauci claimed victory in the Under 15 shot put and placed third in the 800m.

Both delegations were guided by coaches Antonella Chouhal, Rachid Chouhal, and Matthew Micallef, ensuring Malta’s success in this prestigious event.
