Well done! Maltese athletes smash national record at the Balkan Under-20 Indoor Championships

In a display of skill and determination, Michael Debattista Segond and Isaac Bonnici have made history at the Balkan Under-20 Indoor Championships.

Clocking in at an impressive 1:59.46, Michael Debattista Segond race time has officially set the new U18 800m Indoor National Record. The breakthrough achievement showcases his talent and the promising future of Maltese athletics.

Meanwhile, Isaac Bonnici clocked in a time of 1:56.89 in the two-lap sprint, establishing an impressive Under 20 and Under 23 national record in the process. Not only did he break one record but he broke two! 

The two athletes completed the race in tenth and sixth place respectively, running against highly-quoted competitors primarily from the Balkan and Eastern European region.

This historic moment marks a significant milestone in their young careers and sets the stage for a bright and promising future in Maltese athletics.
