San Anton School celebrated the feast of its patron saint, St Anthony of Padua, in an extremely unique way…

In a bid to teach students about St Anthony as well as Malta’s spiritual and cultural heritage, San Anton brought a traditional Maltese festa to its grounds!

That’s right - a video uploaded to social media by the school shows students and teachers having a blast as a village band plays some traditional tunes.

"For the very first time in San Anton School's history, a traditional Festa was held at school today in the Early Years and Junior Sectors to celebrate the feast of our patron Saint, St. Anthony, complete with mass, statue processions, and a lively village band" the school wrote.

“This was held on the initiative of Early Years Educator Ms Francesca Cassar and Early Years and Junior Sector Teacher of Music and Self Express Mr Matthew Vella, who both wanted our students to appreciate our spiritual and cultural heritage while learning all about our patron saint,” it continued.

Filled with enthusiasm and lots of excitement, the children can be seen jumping and running around, getting involved in the activities, and singing along to the tunes of the band.

It seems like this initiative struck a chord with many, as dozens of viewers took to the post’s comments section to commend the effort.
