Good news turtle lovers! The Wildlife Rescue Team Malta’s Facebook page just announced that more than 40 turtles successfully hatched from the fourth nest of 2024 at Ghajn Tuffieha!

The nest was originally discovered on the 16th of July, but had to be translocated to a safer location due to its proximity to the shore, which posed a risk of it being washed away. Thanks to this careful intervention, over 40 baby turtles safely made their way to the sea.

This event highlights the crucial role that conservation initiatives play in protecting vulnerable species like sea turtles. The successful hatching of these turtles demonstrates the effectiveness of measures such as nest translocation, ensuring that nests at risk are given the best chance of survival.

Sea turtles face numerous threats, including habitat loss and climate change, making these efforts all the more essential.

Thank you to all the volunteers and good luck little sea turtles!
