WATCH: Final tweaks in Michela's rehearsal ahead of tonight’s important performance
It’s the final countdown! Tonight, Michela will hit the stage during the second semi-final night of the Eurovision Song Contest being held in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Michela’s performance is fresh, vibrant and out of the box, using visual effects and props that really wow the audience. Last night, hours before the second rehearsal when jury voting takes place, the Maltese delegation requested an extra rehearsal to iron over some technical and visual difficulties that required changing. But don’t worry, it was nothing major!
Michela, as always, gave an absolutely fab performance during both rehearsals, receiving applause from those present at the venue and at the journalist centre.
The jury’s vote
During the second rehearsal, the jury voted for each song, which counts towards 50 per cent of the final result. And they’re going all eagle-eyed this year, watching out for:
1. The artist’s vocal range and capability
2. The performance on stage
3. Originality and composition of the song
4. General feel and impression of the whole performance
The Maltese jury this year includes Carlo Borg Bonaci, the head of the jury, Arthur Caruana, Eileen Spiteri, Matthew James Borg and Nicole Frendo.
The much-awaited semi-final
This afternoon, Michela and all the other participating countries will have a third and final rehearsal ahead of tonight’s performance. The show will start at 9pm sharp, and only 10 out of 18 countries can qualify to Saturday’s final. And as everyone knows, Malta can't vote for Michela (boo!), so get that cousin in the UK to vote!
The countries that can vote for Michela tonight are: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
