WATCH: Explore the intriguing Roman Baths found alongside the Xemxija Heritage Trail
The roman baths were first discovered 23 years ago.
In one of his latest videos, local vlogger, Pierre Farrugia took his trusty camera to show his viewers the beauty that lies alongside the hidden Roman Baths near the Xemxija heritage trail.
He began this hike at the start of the Xemxija heritage trail where he encountered many cart ruts. Nobody has quite yet discovered where they come from and they’re shrouded in mystery.
Pierre started making his way down to the Roman Baths and the views of the never-ending fields was beautiful.
Before he reached the baths, he came across a World War II pill box which was still pretty much intact even though it was vandalised from the inside. Pierre even showed his viewers the firing holes from where the army used to shoot from.
He finally reached the roman baths and they’re as cool as ever. They were only discovered, 23 years ago, in the year 2000 to be precise.
The baths themselves overlook the mistra valley and are a perfect spot for some amazing views.
Sometime in the 17th century however, the roman baths started being used as a farmhouse or some kind of dwellings for farmers nearby.
Pierre even came across a burial chamber dug into the walls of the baths. It was designed in a similar way as many other catacombs across Malta.
Outside the entrance one can even come across many other huge carved in spaces but Pierre was not quite sure what they were used from.
