Travel safely! Special bus services for Valletta and Nadur carnival announced
All personalised Tallinja Card holders can travel free of charge.

In anticipation of the Valletta Carnival and Nadur Carnival festivities, a series of temporary service modifications to facilitate transportation during the events have been announced. The adjustments aim to accommodate increased demand and accessibility for carnival-goers on both islands.

Valletta Carnival

Saturday, 10th February 2024:

The below list of routes will have service extensions and frequency enhancements:

  • Valletta to Isla (Route 1): Service extended until 10:30pm
  • Valletta to Kalkara (Route 3): Service extended until 11pm
  • St Julian’s to Valletta (Route 13A): Increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12:10pm to 11pm
  • Valletta to St Julian’s (Route 13A): Increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12:10pm to 11pm
  • Valletta to Sliema (Route 21): Service extended until 10:30pm
  • Valletta to Birkirkara (Route 22): Service extended until 10:45pm
  • Cirkewwa to Valletta (Route 41): Increased service every 30 minutes from 12:25pm to 10:25pm
  • Valletta to Cirkewwa (Route 41): Increased frequency every 30 minutes from 3:25pm to 10:55pm
  • Cirkewwa to Valletta (Route 42): Increased frequency every 30 minutes from 12pm to 8pm
  • Valletta to Cirkewwa (Route 42): Increased frequency every 30 minutes from 12pm to 8pm; Service extended until 10:30pm
  • Valletta to Gharghur (Route 46): Increased frequency every 30 minutes from 1:15pm to 8:45pm
  • Bugibba to Valletta (Route 48): Increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12:10pm to 8:10pm
  • Valletta to Bugibba (Route 48): Increased frequency every 15 minutes from 12:20pm to 11pm
  • Valletta to Dingli (Route 52): Service extended until 11pm
  • Valletta to Zurrieq (Route 71): Service extended until 10:45pm
  • Valletta to Birzebbugia (Route 82): Service extended until 11pm
  • Valletta to Zejtun (Route 84): Service extended until 10:55pm
  • Valletta to Marsascala (Route 91): Increased frequency every 15 minutes from 8:10pm to 10:55pm

Sunday, 11th February:

  • Morning service follows the normal Sunday schedule.
  • From 12pm onwards, routes switch to the weekly schedule.

Gozo Nadur Carnival 

The following services will be implemented:

Friday, 9th February:

  • Special service to Nadur Carnival: Direct service every 30 minutes from Victoria to Nadur between 8pm and 12am.
  • Shuttle service between Mgarr Ferry and Nadur with each scheduled ferry between 7pm and 12am
  • Special services at 1am (Saturday early morning) from Nadur to various localities.

Saturday, 10th February:

  • Direct service from Victoria to Nadur every 15 minutes between 8pm and 12am.
  • Shuttle service between Mgarr Ferry and Nadur with each scheduled ferry between 7pm and 12am.
  • Special services at 1am and 2:30am (Sunday early morning) from Nadur to various localities.

Sunday, 11th February:

  • Direct service from Victoria to Nadur every 30 minutes between 8pm and 11pm.
  • Special services at 12am from Nadur to various localities.

Saturday, 10th February (Night) till Sunday, 11th February (Early morning):

  • MPT will provide a special service (S222 and S41) from Cirkewwa to Mellieha, Xemxija, St. Paul's Bay, Pembroke, St. Julian’s, Sliema, Mosta, Birkirkara, Msida, and Valletta, according to the Gozo Channel Ferry arrivals in Cirkewwa.

Fares for Tallinja Direct routes stand at €3.00 for cash payments on board and €1.50 when using a personalised Tallinja Card. All personalised Tallinja Card holders can travel free of charge on Day, Night, and Special Services trips.

Cash tickets at €3 per passenger will be available for purchase from the bus ticket machine for passengers without a valid Tallinja Card.
