Round 6 of the ICC National Hillclimb Championship – Ta’ Pennellu will be taking place in Mellieha on Sunday, and in preparation of the highly anticipated event, the Mellieha Local Council has announced some traffic arrangements that will be put in place for the duration of the races, between 7am and 5pm.

Most important to note is that part of Triq Lewis Wettinger (the Mellieha Bypass) will be closed, from the intersection at Triq Edward Camilleri to Triq il-Marfa. Transport Malta officers will be present on-site to manage traffic and assist motorists. Officers will also be stationed at key intersections, including:

  • Triq Gorg Borg Olivier
  • Triq Lewis Wettinger (corner with Triq il-Kbira)
  • Triq Lewis Wettinger (corner with Triq il-Mellieħa)
  • Triq il-Marfa (corner with Dawret il-Mellieħa)

Note also that public transport on Route 101 will operate as usual and will remain unaffected. Additionally, Triq il-Prajjiet, the road leading to Popeye Village, will stay open for drivers.

Will you be attending the Hillclimb Championship?
