Stormy September! A week of wind, rain and thunderstorms are in store for the Maltese Islands
Although we woke up to sunny skies today, many weather forecast pages on social media are predicting that this will not be here for too long.
According to Maltese Islands Weather, we’re looking at an almost full week of thunderstorms and rainy days, from Tuesday 5th September until Saturday 9th September.
The page also claimed that the clouds we’re seeing today were a means of forecasting used by our ancestors since they indicate instability. This means that the edge of the low-pressure system that will bring stormy weather to the Maltese Islands is starting to reach our shores.
It is also predicted that, later on today, these clouds will only grow denser and will expand to cover more of the sky. According to this same Facebook page, the first rain is expected around sunset on Tuesday 5th September.
Although we’ll be experiencing thunderstorms throughout most of the week, temperatures will still remain fairly high, with Tuesday bringing a maximum of 29°C, with the lowest being 26°C on Friday 8th September.
However, heavy wind is also being predicted throughout the week, picking up Wednesday 6th September from a Force 4-5 reaching the peak of Force 6 to 7 on Friday and Saturday.
The sea is looking like it will be in a rough state, especially from Thursday to Saturday. So, if you have any beach-hopping public holiday plans, it would be a wise idea to have a backup!
It’s looking like we’ll be getting our summer back on Sunday 10th September, especially with the predicted temperature going up to 31°C but it’s a little bit too early for that, so we’ll just have to wait and see!
Are you looking forward to the rainy season?
