If Fat Louie’s relatively-new ramen dish is anything like the rest of its meals, we can count on it being slurpingly-delicious. Fat Louie’s ramen dishes are original and diverse, featuring different cuts and meats such as brisket, chicken and pork belly; they even offer ramen topped with seasonal fish! Chicken ramen, only available at lunch, is part of this eatery’s weekday €10-all-in menu. And, it's so more-ish, you'll be going back for more!
Wagamama, the Asian and Japanese food chain, situated across the road from the love sign in St Julian’s, is big on ramen, with eight different dishes to choose from, and featuring a selection of meats including duck, sirloin steak and seafood. Each portion is served in the brand's signature black bowl and large wooden spoon for easy slurping. Vegetarian? You can opt for the yasai ramen dish which is served with a traditional Japanese omelette, crispy fried silken tofu and mixed mushrooms on top of the noodles and broth.
Tokyo Fried House in St Julian’s is one of the first traditional Japanese fried food restaurants in Malta, and is therefore likely to cook up some genuine Japanese ramen (thank you, globalisation!) The key ingredients in the Tokyo Fried House ramen are pork and egg, served on top of a selection of broths and noodles.
Local brand Jubilee which is found in Gzira, Valletta, and Victoria, Gozo has a menu so diverse, that it is actually no surprise that ramen makes the cut (alongside dishes such as Nanna’s Ravioli and Angus Cheese Burger). A large bowl of spicy pork ramen is served at each of the outlets, whose intimate and cosy settings are the perfect spot for this hot bowl of love.
Located in the heart of the capital city and specialising in Asian cuisine, Yugto is serving up beef, chicken and pork ramen, alongside other heart-warming Asian soups such as wonton soup and a coconut-milk-based Tom Ka soup. The Instagrammable decor is also pretty, providing a nice setting in which to enjoy your bowl. To the delight of vegetarians, Yugto recently launched a new mushroom and zucchini ramen too!
And finally… keep an eye out for ramen at Emma’s Kitchen!
Emma’s Kitchen has recently launched a ramen dish on their specials menu (meaning that it is only available on select days). However keep your eyes peeled for when it features, and, perhaps, one day - hopefully - it will gain a permanent spot?
