Second winter ahead? Low pressure system brings strong winds and rain to Malta from Sunday
The weekend won't be as bright and sunny as you may have hoped

Francesca Vella

If you’ve been wondering whether winter has come to an early end, rest assured – there’s still some gloomy weather in store! Maltese Islands Weather has announced that the first low-pressure system of the year will be hitting Malta this weekend and is forecast to linger into the first half of next week. This system, characterised by lower atmospheric pressure than the surrounding areas, is typically associated with unstable weather conditions.

Starting early tomorrow (Friday), strong winds from the West Northwest to West are expected, peaking at force 6 and persisting through late Sunday. The same system is also predicted to bring showers beginning early Sunday and continuing into Tuesday, with the most rainfall expected on Monday.

With strong winds on the horizon, rough seas are also forecast on the weekend, so it’s a good idea to stay safe and avoid any unnecessary sea travel. If you were planning a lazy Sunday, lining up some cosy indoor activities might be the way to go!

Are you itching for more outdoor weather or happy to chill indoors while it pours outside?
