Score! National Football Centre & Malta’s very first FIFA Arena mini-pitch are officially open
Yesterday saw the inauguration of Malta’s brand-new National Football Centre at an event marking the 125th anniversary of the Malta Football Association (MFA). The Centre has been designed to support all Malta’s national teams while also hosting international youth tournaments.
Joining the celebrations were some iconic names in football: FIFA President Gianni Infantino, UEFA Vice-President Jesper Møller Christensen, and legends from the pitch Fabio Cannavaro and Christian Vieri.

Inside the Centre are all the works at UEFA-level standards: a Category 1 stadium, state-of-the-art sports science labs, a physio clinic, a gym, recovery areas, meeting rooms, lecture halls, and offices.
The football stars also joined in yesterday’s inauguration of Malta’s very first FIFA Arena mini-football pitch at Maria Regina College Primary School in St Paul’s Bay.
This pitch is part of FIFA’s Arena Project – an initiative aiming to build 1,000 small football pitches across the world, with the goal to give kids safe, inclusive spaces to play, learn, and dream big.

The opening ended on the perfect note – with the kids themselves hitting the pitch for a quick match on their new turf!
