Scorching March! Weekend temperatures set to hit 27°C in Malta & Gozo
Get ready for a sizzling weekend!

March is bringing a rollercoaster of weather to the islands this year! After last Friday’s relentless showers, this weekend is flipping the script with near-summer conditions - despite spring not having started yet! On Saturday, temperatures are expected to soar to 27°C, marking the arrival of the first wave of very warm desert air.

According to Maltese Islands Weather, this heat surge will also bring fine desert dust, which could make even the sunnier days look hazy. Throughout the week, daytime temperatures will range between 22°C and 23°C until Thursday, before climbing on Friday and peaking on Saturday. Nighttime temperatures will also rise, reaching 17°C - which happens to be the average daytime temperature for March!

Not quite ready for summer just yet? Don’t worry! A shift in wind direction to the Northwest on Sunday, March 16th, will help clear the air of dust and put an end to this early heatwave. Sunday’s temperatures will drop back down to a milder 19°C during the day, with a refreshing 12°C at night.

If you're thinking of taking your first dip of 2025 this weekend, don’t forget the sunblock! The UV index has already climbed to 6, a significant jump from the 1 or 2 we saw just a couple of months ago.

Are you excited for this early taste of summer, or are you holding out for the real thing?

10th March 2025
