You might be aware that 2025’s first long weekend is coming up – for history enthusiasts it’s going to be providing an extra treat, as the Feast of St Paul celebrated on the 10th of February will be providing the opportunity to visit San Pawl Milqi – a site in Burmarrad that is usually closed to the public. The site is traditionally believed to be the place where St Paul was hosted during his visit to Malta around A.D. 60, giving the site its name.

This rare opportunity to visit the historic site includes the celebration of a Mass in Maltese at 10 AM and two guided tours delving into its archaeological and religious significance. The Maltese tour begins at 9 AM, followed by the English tour at 11 AM. Attendance is free, but as spaces for each tour are limited, pre-booking is essential to secure a spot.

For Heritage Malta members, an exclusive preview will be held on Saturday 8th February. Participants will first be treated to a guided tour, and will later engage in hands-on archaeological activities, including excavation and artefact cataloguing with expert monitoring.

Have you ever visited San Pawl Milqi?
