Preserving Marsaxlokk heritage! Conservation and Protection Order issued on Palazzo Marnisi
This order will require the owners to safeguard the property.

The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage in Malta has issued a vital Conservation and Protection Order on the historical Palazzo Marnisi found in Marsaxlokk.

Such a Conservation and Protection Order “obliges the owners/ possessors of Palazzo Marnisi to undertake works that aim to safeguard and secure the property against vandalism and unwarranted access, subject to the approval of the Superintendence”.

The order comes after The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage carried out a site inspection and found evidence of vandalism, damage and squatting. It might also be that artefacts of historical importance were broken or stolen.

This act will now help save the palace from further vandalism and trespassing. This might also lead to the Palazzo Marnisi's eventual restoration.

Palazzo Marnisi dates back to the 17th century and is surrounded by massive plots of land.
