Carnival weekend is easily one of the most highly-anticipated weekends of the year, as thousands of locals bring out their best costumes to celebrate this local feast. 

Whilst no floats and colourful celebrations will be taking place in Valletta this February (thanks, COVID), there are still countless ways you can take advantage of this occasion. 

Here's a list of some major events going down this weekend you can attend:  

1. Boozy Bingo: Flower Power  

Gianpula's legendary Boozy Bingo is back with a special Carnival edition! This one is perfect for anyone who loves a 60s and 70s vibe with a side of booze.  

Location: Gianpula Main Room, Rabat

 2. YAKUZA & BLACK  

DJs YAKUZA & BLACK will be joining forces once again for another special underground night! Heading to Gozo and in need of some seriously good tunes? Then this is the event for you.  

Location: Villa Fiorita, Zebbug, Gozo

3. Carnival Costumes Exhibition  

This one's for all you history buffs! This exhibition, organised by Festivals Malta in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv, features carnival costumes appertaining to various categories from previous years. 

Location: Saint James Cavalier, Valletta. 

When: Today, Friday 25th February until 6th March.

4. Il-Karnival Fil-Manoel - Kuluri u Fantasija  

This hour-long show, performed in Maltese, is a spectacle for the whole family. Its captivating colours and music will take you on a journey to discover what Carnival is, its origins and why we celebrate it on the islands.  

Location: Manoel Theatre, Valletta. 

When: 27th and 28th February, and 1st March.

5. Karnival Farm open weekend  

Tal-Karmnu Sheep Farm is offering a little outing for the whole family to enjoy! Kids can visit this spot all dressed up in their costume to say ‘hi’ to the sheep and have a taste of some special Prinjolata-flavoured cannoli.  

Location: Tal-Karmnu Sheep Farm, Haz-Zebbug. 

When: 26th February at 9am and 27th February at 1pm.

6. Carnival at the Aquarium  

Spend a day wandering around the Aquarium with some very special guests! The Malta National Aquarium is offering a day packed with fun activities for kids with everything from a Disney-themed scavenger hunt, Minnie and Mickey yoga, and a Mad Hatter’s craft table!  

Location: Malta National Aquarium, Qawra. 

When: 26th, 27th, 28th February.

7. Carnival at Esplora   

Another great kids outing that the whole family is sure to enjoy is Esploras carnival-themed weekend! This musem is inviting everyone to immerse themselves in a world full of colours, imagination and creative thinking.   

Location: Esplora Interactive Science Centre, Kalkara 

When: Saturday 26th February until Wednesday 2nd March, from 10am until 6pm.
