A lot of effort has been made to strengthen civil protection resources and it's starting to bear fruit, with a humongous batch of recruits recently joining the civil protection department.

A total of 129 civil servants graduated from an 18-week training course and the experience was not only memorable due to the cohort's size but also to the presence of three female members who joined the fresh graduates.

This is actually a double whammy for the CPD: not only was it the biggest swearing in ceremony in the past 20 years, but it also celebrated the first ever batch of female workers into the squad. Breaking records and girl power all in one sweep? We're all for it!

Interior Minister Michael Farrugia was jubilant at the success of the swearing-in ceremony. "We have made history today. These women will act as the department's ambassadors to aid female recruitage efforts into the Civil Protection Department," Dr Farrugia wrote in a Facebook post.
