‘Long To Belong’: An exhibition featuring Maltese artists that explores the tapestry of human connection
The exhibition will be opening its doors on the 9th of February at The Mill in Birkirkara.
The Gabriel Caruana Foundation is proudly presenting its third collective exhibition of the SPRING Artistic Programme for Emerging Artists 2022 to 2024, titled ‘Long To Belong.’ This captivating exhibition conceptualised and curated by the foundation's Co-Creative Director and Curator, Elyse Tonna, opens its doors at The Mill, Birkirkara, on the 9th of February, generously supported by Arts Council Malta.

Elyse Tonna describes ‘Long To Belong’ as more than an art display—it is a journey into the intricate tapestry of human connection. Featuring the works of Mono2Mass (FBRZ VLL and Jean Churoe), Giola Cassar, Aprille Zammit, and Sephora Schembri, the exhibition prompts a reflective dialogue, urging visitors to contemplate their sense of belonging in today's complex reality.
Giola Cassar and Aprille Zammit, visual artists exploring identity and nature, collaborate to present a profound exploration of the balance between solitude and community. Through photography, Giola captures the beauty in the mundane, while Aprille delves into screen printing and film photography, amplifying the depth of their collaborative works.

Mono2Mass, a contemporary art collective, takes a playful approach to modern art conventions, incorporating new media like sound and site-specific installations. Their work reflects the dynamics of the Internet Era and its impact on worldwide culture.

Sephora Schembri, a master's graduate in architecture, weaves her background in conservation studies into her art. Recognised for her exceptional work, she aims to rekindle a connection to Malta's neolithic past, infusing her pieces with a deep connection to the land.

So, mark your calendars to immerse yourselves in the narrative of human connection, reflecting on the profound realms of home, community, and the familiar.
Running from the 9th of February to the 1st of March at The Mill – Art, Culture, and Crafts Centre, Birkirkara, this exhibition promises a unique exploration of art and culture.
