A local mezzo-soprano opera singer has brought a tear to many people's eyes through her rousing rendition of the Maltese national anthem.

Collaborating with musicians from the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Marvic Monreal shared the patriotic music video on her official Facebook page: "Honoured to have sung our moving national anthem during this difficult time," she wrote in the caption.

The post continues that: "It's a prayer to God to give strength to the workers, wisdom to the leaders, and to maintain peace amongst the people of Malta. A very apt prayer as Malta and the rest of the world fight this virus and yearn for normality to return." The video also includes footage of Maltese people waving the national flag from their balconies.

The video has gone viral since being uploaded yesterday and at the time of writing has generated over 600 shares.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
