Village feasts, commonly known as festi, are a staple of Maltese summer. While, technically, these are celebrated throughout the year, an overwhelming majority of festi take place during the summer months – with 33 taking place in August alone.

Across the Maltese Islands, people gather in their respective villages to celebrate their patron saint. Having said that, here are all the village feasts for this month, with each one an opportunity to enjoy some traditional food, listen to music by the local banda, or just watch the fireworks!

Sunday 2nd August:

  • San Gwann: Our Lady of Lourdes
  • Valletta: St Dominic
  • Qala, Gozo: St Joseph

Thursday 6th August:

  • Lija: Christ Our Saviour

Sunday 9th August: 

  • Ħamrun: San Gejtanu
  • Bugibba: San Massimiljanu Kolbe
  • Gozo: San Lawrenz 

Monday 10th August:

  • Birgu (Vittoriosa): San Lawrenz

Saturday 15th August:

  • Mqabba: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Qrendi: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Mosta: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Gudja: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Attard: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Għaxaq: The Assumption of Our Lady
  • Victoria, Gozo: The Assumption of Our Lady
