Heads up! More rain coming tomorrow but sunny weekend expected for Malta and Gozo
The sun should return on Saturday!

Francesca Vella

As forecast earlier this week, Malta and Gozo woke up to some serious rain this morning, with showers starting in the early hours and intensifying in some areas. The rest of today is expected to remain cloudy, with a chance of more rain later - so keep that umbrella close!

According to Maltese Islands Weather, Friday is likely to bring more of the same, with light showers expected throughout the day. Winds will also pick up, reaching Force 5, making it feel even chillier, especially at night. Due to the increased humidity from the rain, the real-feel temperature could drop to a nippy 6°C!

But worry not! Saturday should see a return of the sun breaking through the clouds, and is expected to shine brightly - so any weekend outings you might have planned should be safe!

Winds should also calm down by Sunday, improving conditions for sea travel - a welcome relief for those taking the Gozo or Valletta ferries, which tend to be busier on weekends.

Did you get caught in the rain this morning?
