Gale warning! Malta braces for a very windy weekend reaching forces 8 and 9
Avoid unnecessary sea travel, and definitely no swimming!

Malta's chilly December this year is about to get even more wintry, as weather forecasts predict gale-force winds sweeping across the islands this weekend. The winds are expected to peak between tomorrow, Friday 20th December, and Saturday, 21st December, reaching force 8 with gusts climbing to force 9, particularly in exposed areas.

Some of the most affected regions are anticipated to include Marsalforn Bay and Dwejra in Gozo, as well as Bugibba in Malta, among others.

In light of these strong winds, several weather portals have issued an orange weather alert—typically reserved for severe weather conditions that could cause disruptions, such as transport delays or cancellations. Ferry services are among the operations likely to be affected, so make sure to stay informed and check updates before making travel plans.

Stay safe and brace for a blustery weekend!
