The Annual Concert on the occasion of the Feast of Santa Cecilia organized by the Ghaqda Nazzjonali Kazini tal-Banda this year will be staged on Sunday 3 December at 7pm in the Manoel Theatre, under the patronage of E.T. George Vella, President of Malta.
The Musical Concert will be staged by the Socjetá Filarmonika Sliema under the baton of Mro Lesley Tabone.
This year the concert will mark the 100th Anniversary since the foundation of the Socjetá Filarmonika Sliema which is being celebrated during this year.
The music that will be played is very demanding, both by local composers such as the former Sliema Band directors Joseph Galea and Ronnie Debattista and others in connection with this society such as Joseph Magri and Joseph Sammut as well as foreigner well known conductors such as Gustav Mahler, Lorenzo Pusceddu, Willy Hautvast, Alexander Borodin, Jacob De Han and Cardenio Botti, composer of the popular Inno Sliema with the Celebre Marcia gifted by him to this Society.
