From New Realism to Webfare is a philosophy talk by Maurizio Ferraris exploring THYS, or Transcendental Hysteresis — a philosophy of beginnings built around the idea that nothing begins from nothing. Instead, every beginning follows something that came before, carrying traces of the past while creating the possibility for something new.

Ferraris examines this idea of an “originary delay”, proposing that being never fully coincides with its own beginning. In doing so, the talk turns a familiar metaphysical question on its head, shifting the focus from asking where everything comes from to considering how anything can begin when something already exists.
