On Sunday, 28th April 2024, Heritage Malta is inviting the public to join its expert crew and explore the sea-sprayed secrets of this neighbouring island of Comino.
Attendees will get the chance to learn about the flora and fauna of this picturesque isle as Comino is a bird sanctuary and a protected nature reserve. But that’s not all as Comino os also the site of numerous archaeological and historical sites.
Heritage Malta’s knowledgeable guide will share curious anecdotes about the island’s past while walking past the charming Santa Marija Bay Chapel, the commanding Santa Marija Battery and the Redoubt that overlooks the Malta Channel, the iconic Santa Marija Tower, the old bakery, and the historic Lazaretto or quarantine hospital.
After an exhilarating tour of the island’s hidden gems, you’ll get to bask or take a dip at the world-famous crystal clear Blue Lagoon. A trip to Comino would not be complete without it!
Detailed programme:
9am – Meeting point next to Ċirkewwa Cafe kiosk, at Ċirkewwa harbour
9:30am – Departure by boat to Comino
10am – Arrival on Comino and commencement of guided tours
12:30pm – Break
3pm – Departure back to Ċirkewwa
Heritage Malta notes that this is a moderate walk on rough terrain. Don’t forget to bring appropriate footwear, sun protection, and your own food and drinks. Entrance to St Mary’s Tower, which is managed by Din l-Art Ħelwa, is by donation.
